World of Hyatt might not be as well-known as other travel cards, but it’s definitely one worth looking into.
The perks alone can easily make up for the annual fee, and there’s enough here to ensure that you’re making a sound investment.
The card provides generous points benefits for Hyatt shopping. For example, you can earn as much as 9x points for every dollar spent at Hyatt (4x reward points for every dollar spent at Hyatt hotels; 5x points for every dollar spent as a member of World of Hyatt).
Cardholders can also earn 2x points for every dollar spent on flights booked through airlines, dining out, transportation, gym membership, and commuting.
So, how does such a rate of return compare to similar cards? Although credit cards like those from Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors provide more points based on every dollar you spend on shopping and hotel stays, please remember Hyatt points usually are more valuable.
For instance, World of Hyatt comes out to about 1¢ to 2.5¢ on average. Compare that rate to 0.5¢ offered through Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors.
When you redeem your World of Hyatt points for staying in a hotel, please note that Hyatt doesn’t have as many locations compared to other similar loyalty programs.
What’s more, the brand presently has 20 top brands in more than 65 countries and six continents, with more than 950 hotels. In contrast, Marriott Bonvoy plans to have over 7,000 hotels worldwide.
Thankfully, Hyatt free nights are not expensive, and Hyatt offers many unique hotels that can be redeemed for points.
Hyatt Rewards only requires 5,000 bonus points (which gets you some good hotels), while standard room nights in a luxury hotel, like Kukui’ula Lodge in Hawaii, for example, will run you 40,000 points.
Please also remember that if you need to extend your points further, you may use your cash and points to reserve a room, and you may redeem your points to upgrade your room during a paid night at Hyatt. You may also redeem your points for all-inclusive Hyatt hotel stay offerings.
For every new year that you renew your card, you get one free night at a Hyatt hotel. What’s more, you can use the free night in any Hyatt hotel worldwide, whether it’s a Category 1 or Category 4 hotel.
For comparison, a Category 4 Hyatt hotel redeems points at a rate of 15,000 for each night (standard room).
As a World of Hyatt cardholder, you get complimentary Discoverist “elite” status. The benefits offered to Discoverist members include:
The fact that you can earn daily points on purchases made while traveling, dining, and all other purchases, the World of Hyatt card gives you plenty of chances to rack up points for spending.
And when you factor in the perks that come with your daily spending, such as additional points, this is a card that was built for the frequent traveler.
You get a wealth of benefits in travel insurance as a World of Hyatt cardholder, including:
Please note that you must use your World of Hyatt card on your carrier expenses.
With no foreign transaction fee, resort fee waived, and a low annual fee, World of Hyatt is a viable option for travelers. This is a notable incentive, as many other cards charge around 3% for foreign transaction fees.
Travelers who already frequent Hyatt hotels will definitely want to give this card a look. It’s accepted at Hyatt resorts, too, making this travel credit card all the more worthwhile.
It’s worth pointing out that the World of Hyatt card doesn’t offer the same global coverage found in other travel cards. With that caveat, how does it compare to some of the best travel cards?
